it seems odd that the same 1200 watt power supply will not output 1200 watts at 110 vac, but does so at 220 vac....this is the part that confuses me a bit....

At the Riden site there is only 3 dollars difference between the 1000 vs 1200 watt psu (must be minor parts swapping inside of them); but I would want to use 110 volt and not 220 volt so no benefit it seems to get their 1200 watt version if it will only do 1000 watts at 110 volt ac ????

yes, I also bought the 1000 watt one ( ac to dc psu ) quite some time ago and just finally assembling it this past week....

I  think it is control by the firmware  program to know if it is connect to 220vac   like it can  tell  what the max of any  Li Ion battery  is.      My charge setting is to the max volt and max amp  and it will auto shut down when  it know the battery is fully charge .     I try  a harbor freight charger  to do the same  as the Riden 6018  a year ago and  the charger  exploded like a shot gun when I connect to  Li Ion 60 vdc battery .

I believe this is due to a primary-side current limitation of the flyback topology.  This phenomenon is extremely common in larger SMPS units (especially server rack power supplies).

Assuming this PSU does not have a PFC circuit (or even if it does!), the limitation becomes very simple Ohm's Law: if the input side can only handle (x) number of amps, then your maximum wattage will be determined by the input voltage.

In the case of your PSUs, it appears that they have a significant amount of headroom available on the input current--but not enough to do full load at half the input voltage.

I bought a garage sale big battery charger for car and truck batteries for 25 bucks last summer,,, the gauge is a little flaky but it charges up the Case skidloader battery in below zero weather so I can scoop the snow...

I may have try a clamp meter on it out of curiosity (the used 25 dollar garage sale charger) >>>>((( it is on 2 wheels and has a handle to wheel it around  and says it has an engine boost on it)) gauge bad so can't tell me much... an older heavy unit but works anyway....

I swear everything is twice as complicated in the cold ...... it is a balmy negative 5 degrees below zero Fahrenheit now.....global warming must be in full force... i have replaced 2 lead acid batteries in the last 30 days in the coldest of weather.....one in the car and one in the skidloader.....iron machinery is exceptionally cold and unforgiving when it is below zero....

I plugged the skidloader in( It has a block heater),,,, never done that before but then again it is darn cold out and diesels do not like the cold...me either...

started like a charm after charging the battery a bit and plugging in the block heater yesterday..... 😎

this was because the el cheapo harbor freight battery charger turner out to be non functional right out of the box; but I did not try it until after the 90 warranty was no good.....so the old feller at the garage sale selling the old heavy battery charger was a better buy....😎

Riden 6024 update: >>>>

still waiting on the 14 gauge power cord for the Riden 6024 but the 12AWG copper silicone wire and heat shrink terminals with fork ends arrived quick....so I can upgrade the inside connections..... vs the 14 degrees Fahrenheit outside and wind ....>>> Darn cold bitter 26mph wind....

thinking of using the wago 3 connector to connect 2 of the 12 gauge silicone wires one 12 gauge silicone wire to the only terminal on the Riden 6024 there will be a fork terminal on all 3 that is crimped with the Klein tools cr3005 crimping tool designed for insulated terminal crimping. no sloppy solder joints at all (this time) only compression connections and screw down connections.... the ratcheting crimping tool of Klein tools cr3005 is a good tool and produces a solid crimp has been my experience so far....

the Riden 6024 had the heavy duty screw down terminals vs the 6018 and 6012 had the less robust tiny insert the small wire screw down fitting... worked without problems but the Riden 6024 is designed with a more robust connection (IMO)....

maybe I can get some pictures later to show the more robust terminals in the Riden 6024 and new connecting wires later....

cold weather is a good excuse to work inside....🤔

have a great weekend! 😎

Riden 6024;

the 14 gauge ( 14AWG ) 15 amp power cords arrived today for the Riden 6024 ac to dc power supply,,,,>>>>of course the label says made in China but is a higher quality cord by Monoprice...>>> IMO it is a flexible pliable power cord once it warmed up from the FedEx guy leaving it in the driveway... lots of ice >>> can't blame him this time....for not delivering up to to the door...salt melts the ice but it then it freezes to a more slippery ice...

but also a Square D HU364RB 600-volt DC safety switch arrived nonfunctional so start the eBay money back process....today,,,, 50 pound piece of junk... sometimes you get a lemon....

it is 38 and sometimes sunny so snow melting a bit,,,, more snow predicted for Thursday,,,, groundhog predicted 6 more weeks of winter.... need to shoot that varmint!

😂🤔🤔😎

Riden 6024 is a buck converter....

it utilizes a separate SMPS (switch mode power supply) that converts standard 120-volt AC input to DC output in my setup...

As I share and read more and study more I understand more about electrical and how things work.

there is a YouTube guy "KISS ANALOG" who has some good content about switch mode power supplies...

other AC to DC power supplies could be used but need to be around the 65-68 volt DC output to get more adaptability for the build in parts and pieces >>> Riden 6024 bench power supply/ battery charger....

the Riden 6024 is a good product,,,,and you will likely get about 200 dollars or so to get all the parts,,,but still a very valuable useful tool....

I Like it...

again no need for the grid electric in all I do in my off grid solar PV farm site....

have a great day All 😎

His resume is amazing .    He say his car was hit by lightning  and all his electronic equipment stop .    I was hit by lightning while driving  on a  sunny day and one white cloud .  I look out the driver side window  and  a flash out of the one cloud and hit my car and the car engine die .     A blue flash like from an arc welder and a  loud blast like a shot gun and then everything is black .    After at least 10 seconds  everything is gray  and only see color after a long time .    I thought I was  blind  for a while .

Above is the E-Z RED 3-point crimper ( to be used with my vice ) is the tool I will use on the next set of battery interconnections(pure copper cable to tinned cooper lugs) ((especially with the fine strand copper cables))... the short ones are the most difficult and time consuming to make...🤔😎

Made in the USA Craftsman 4.5 inch bench mount vice for $10 dollars at a garage sale.... my buy of the day one day.... the lady did not know what it was and likely had not been used much as it was in very good condition....

I also bought steel t-post pounders for 3 and 5 dollars each to build more fence for the hair sheep.... 45 of the pasture cleaners (the hair sheep) are expensive to feed.... need to utilize more pasture... most come by calling them but need to make sure they do not get into the farmers fields.... I lost one ( a hair sheep) last year and never seen it again... ????

trying to find more fence supplies at bargain prices..... inflation is a killer....😢

but I did score a old mostly reconditioned wood lathe on a heavy commercial bench with a  wood workers vice on the end and 3 slide out drawers including extra parts and the chisels for 80 bucks.... heavy to move but working on wheels for the heavy stuff....🤔🤔

2 days of city wide garage sales are a buyers market >>> especially on Friday when people are at work.... if you get there 1st the best stuff is there... early riser in the rain was actually quite nice as the rain will melt the witches and keep them away.... 🤣🤣🤣

too hot outside today so I built fence starting at 6 in the morning.... nice for 4 hours....😎
